How easy is it to get to Rarotonga?

Rarotonga is the main island in the Cook Islands.  As you fly you cross the dateline, it is 22 hours behind New Zealand and 20 hours behind Australia. You may therefore find you arrive before you left.

Rarotonga is now even easier to get to with direct flights from major cities in New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and French Polynesia.

From New Zealand
Air New Zealand offers 1-2 flights daily from Auckland
Air New Zealand now flies directly from Christchurch 3 days a week (Tuesday's, Thursday's and Saturday's) between May to October.

From Australia
Jetstar flies from Sydney 4 days a week (Tuesday's, Wednesday's, Friday's and Sunday's)
Jetstar flies from Brisbane 3 days a week (Monday's, Thursday's and Saturday's)

From Hawaii
Hawaiian Airlines flies once a week from Honolulu (Friday's)

From French Polynesia
Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti fly multiple times each week from Tahiti.  As it is only a 2 hour flight, Rarotonga can easily be incorporated in a multi-destination, Polynesian islands itinerary with Bora Bora or Moorea.

Rarotonga is the main island in the Cook Islands.  The destination can be enjoyed year-round with warm tropical temperatures throughout the year. The dry season (May to October) is generally the most popular and offers sunny days and balmy evenings. While the warmer months (November to April) provide lush scenery and excellent lagoon conditions.

Of course! Choose from beachfront dinners overlooking the lagoon, cocktail functions poolside or at SKYBAR with rooftop panoramic views, or elegant dining under the stars at the SKYBAR Lounge.
With a variety of delicious five-star catering options and wine pairings, our French Executive Chef will delight in creating a special menu just for your group.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Our culinary team can easily accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and other dietary requirements. As we are located on a remote tropical island in the South Pacific, we would appreciate advance notice of dietary requirements, so we can order in additional supplies if required.

Do you offer wellness experiences?

Yes. Our spa and gymnasium are still in development, however we can easily organise massages, facials and other spa treatments in the privacy of your own suite.  
Ask our team about including wellness experiences such as yoga, nature walks, cycling or wellness meals into your itinerary, as a way to refresh and rejuvenate after a successful year.

Can our company include branding during the event?

Absolutely! We can ensure that your company branding is visible throughout your stay. It could be incorporated into welcome signage, guest amenities, room gifts, event styling, menus, awards evenings and farewell celebrations to create a personalised and memorable experience.

What size groups can The Grand Resort accommodate?

Accepted Answer

We recommend small to medium groups of up to 30 people, as all guests then have similar styles of accommodation, and a wider range of options for private excursions are available.

Larger groups over 30 people are possible during our quieter months, please enquire for further information.

The Grand Resort offers 61 suites including 1, 2 and 3 bedroom options. At maximum occupancy or for an exclusive resort buyout, The Grand Resort can accommodate up to 83 individuals, or 166 people if sharing as couples. Resort buyouts are considered on a case by case basis.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking at least 9–18 months in advance to secure the best availability for accommodation and private tours.  This is particularly important for larger groups or if planning to travel during the peak months (May to October).
